Biopure Corporation

Biopure Corporation is a developer, manufacturer and marketer of oxygen therapeutics. The Company's oxygen therapeutics are pharmaceuticals that are intravenously administered into the circulatory system to increase oxygen delivery to the body's tissues. The Company has developed and manufactures two hemoglobin-based oxygen therapeutic products: Hemopure for human use; and Oxyglobin for veterinary use. Hemopure is currently in a pivotal Phase III clinical trial in the United States. Oxyglobin, the only hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, has been commercially available since March 1998 for the treatment of anemia in dogs.
