Discovery Laboratories, Inc. is a Doylestown, Pennsylvania based bio-pharmaceutical company. Its mission is to develop and commercialize medically novel therapeutics for critical care. Presently, Discovery is focusing on diseases of the lung, with its initial emphasis on the treatment of neonatal indications, such as meconium aspiration syndrome in full-term infants and respiratory distress syndrome in premature infants. Discovery is also developing proprietary pharmaceuticals to treat acute respiratory distress syndrome/acute lung injury and cystic fibrosis In November of 1997, Discovery Laboratories merged with Ansan Pharmaceuticals, a publicly traded, development stage pharmaceutical company. In June of 1998, Discovery merged with its majority-owned subsidiary, Acute Therapeutics, Inc. In March of 2000, the Company completed a private financing of $18.5 million.
